We just got back a few days ago from our first family vacation to San Diego and had a great time! We spent most of the time on the beaches. We stayed in the Torrey Pines area, right off the coast highway! Only 4 miles from the Del Mar Beach, which we spent most of the time there. Frankie was in love with the ocean. It was his first time in the ocean, so he took full advantage of it. I think he spent 3-4 hours a day in the water, just jumping in the waves. Alexandra had her first experience with playing in the sand. The first day she was wondering, "What is this?" As you can tell from the pictures. I think she learned from Day 1 after tasting sand that it was not intended to eat. It was hard though for her not to get sand in her eyes, cause she would rub them when she was tired, and with her teething she would stick her fingers in her mouth! She also got to dip her little feet in the water. We had mainly cloudy days and the temp was in the 70's, so it was a little cold to get her too wet. Of course, we enjoyed the cooler temps compared to our 107 degree days!
We took the kids to see the seals in La Jolla. Alexandra decided to take a nap during this time. Frankie enjoyed the seals and the gorgeous sunset. On our last night, we took the kids to the San Diego County Fair. It was HUGE! Alexandra had her first ride, of course it was the carousel with me. She was laughing the whole time, while I was getting a little motion sickness! I better get tougher for the upcoming rides I will have to go with her on in the future! She even got to experience fair food, as she had to share my strawberry shortcake dessert. She loved the whip creme!
Alexandra did great on the car ride to and from San Diego. Frankie was a major help and great big brother to her! We look forward to making a beach vacation an annual tradition for us. It is just a joy to watch the kids enjoy the nature so much! Enjoy all the pictures!

San Diego is the best, isn't it? The kids look like they had a wonderful time...glad that your first family vacation there was such a success...especially with the car ride:)
